FLASH STAFF REPORT

Science on Saturday (SOS) is the coolest thing you can do with your kids this Saturday, February 22. The event, presented to area children by Stephenville ISD, is “an exciting science program for the young (K-12) and young at heart. The event will highlight the fun and educational science experiments and demonstrations of electrical circuits, sensory stimulation, an iodine clock reaction, and much more.”

SISD’s Brandy Musick and Brian Salge are the sponsors for WIT (Workforce Industry Training), the district’s department that is presenting SOS.

“SHS WIT is excited to host Science on Saturday in the small gym at Stephenville High School on Saturday, February 22, from 10 a.m. to noon,” Musick said. “Attendees will learn through interactive, hands-on activities that include fun with polymers, magnets, and neurons, as well as everyday products and household materials.”

The program will be led by local educators and supported by Tarleton State University professors, instructors, and students, various industry professionals, and local Stephenville High School WIT members. The event is sponsored by the Nuclear Power Institute (NPI) and the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES).

This NPI SOS event is designed to ignite an interest in science and is geared to be interesting to all ages. All students, teachers, parents, and community members are welcome.

The program is free to attend. Just bring your love of science and join SISD for SOS!
