AUSTIN – Tarleton Women’s Golf finished the St. Edward’s Invitational in sixth place with a score of 611 (+51).
The Texans fell three spots on the final day and had rounds of 300 (+20) and 311 (+31) in the two-day tournament at the Onion Creek Country Club, which is a Par 70, 5,810-yard course. West Texas A&M won the tournament with a 587 (+17).
Sofia Rodriguez led the Texans with a 147 (+7) as the freshman tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard. Rodriguez had rounds of 73 (+3) and 74 (+4) to record her second straight top-10 finish and fifth top-20 placement on the season. Rodriguez shot 2-over on the front and back nine today and had 12 pars and a birdie in the round. She finished with 21 pars and four birdies to lead the team.
Junie Khaw tied for 12th place with a score of 150 (+10). Khaw, who carded rounds of 72 and 78, had nine pars and a birdie for the day and finished with 19 pars and four birdies in the tournament. Khaw has placed in the top 20 individually in all five tournaments this season.
Casey Leatherman tied for 20th place with a score of 152 (+12). The senior posted rounds of 75 and 77. Leatherman was second on the team today with 11 pars and finished the tournament with 21 pars and three birdies. It’s Leatherman’s fourth top-20 finish of the year.
Sophie Caldon shot a 162 (+22) and placed 53rd while Breanna Smith carded a 169 (+29) to finish 68th. For the tournament, Caldon totaled 13 pars and three birdies while Smith recorded 16 pars and one birdie.
Tarleton will have two weeks off before the travel to Vista, California for the Cal State San Marcos Fujikura Invitational from March 9-10.
