Billy Ray Byrum, age 84, passed on Thursday, April 23, 2020 in Comanche County.

He was born on March 15, 1936, in Hamilton, Texas, to Fenton Leroy and Velma Dona (Hall) Byrum. On June 1, 1986, he was united in marriage to Dora V. Wright in Dallas, Texas. He worked for 40 years as an auto bodyman in Brownwood; St. Louis, MO; Dallas; Midland; and Kermit. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Dora V. Byrum of Gustine; four daughters, Shelby Byrum of Bertram, TX, Karen Brandon and husband Robert of Gainesville, GA, Sherrie Gleber and husband Roger of Cedar Hill, MO, Tammy Elliott and husband Christopher of Melissa, TX; one step-son, David W. Wright of Houston, TX; two step-daughters, Joy R. O’Rourke of Norman, OK and Cindi Milstone of Hutto, TX; eleven grandchildren, Mike, Olivia, Danyelle, Taylor, Trevor, Bryan II (Bry), Sean, Alyssa, Ryan, Joscelyn, and Christina; 7 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Michael, Brayden, Keyra, Allyson, Ella, Bryan III; two great-great grandchildren, Kaylee and Austin; and a step-sister, Martha Dobbins of Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fenton L. and Velma (Hall) Byrum Hurt; granddaughter, Megan Elliott; half-sister, Velda Hurt Stapp; half-brother, Robert Hurt; sister, Nila Ann Wright; step-brother, (Dub) J.W. Hurt; and three step-sisters, Wanda Burns, Jean Walker, and Linda Shifflett.
