Charles Reese, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, in Gustine, Texas.

He was born on March 9, 1935, in Gustine, to Earnest J. and Fannie Cora Mae (Bilbrey) Reese. On May 29, 1954, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Harris in Gustine. Charles was devoted to his family and in recent years was a dedicated care-giver to his wife of sixty-six years. He owned and operated Sinclair gas station in Gustine, delivered propane for Reese Propane, and worked 31 years as a mechanic at Texas Highway Department. He also farmed and raised cattle, repaired vehicles and various equipment for many residents of the community. Although Charles worked hard, he always managed to find time to be involved in family and community events. He assisted with the Gustine Rodeo and Homecoming, 4-H, Stock Show and was on the Board of Evergreen Cemetery. In his “spare time” he loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Reese of Gustine; daughters, Charla Bean and husband Owen of Blanket and Rita Thompson and husband Toby of Brownwood; grandchildren, Dan Davis, Josh Dowell and wife Courtney, and Jacie Reyes and husband Poncho; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Wanda Christesson of New York and Gail Coulter of Brownwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
