AT A GLANCE

Tarleton Men’s Basketball is making its NCAA Division I debut at home against Dallas Christian under first-year Texan head coach Billy Gillispie. Wednesday’s game marks the first Tarleton Sporting event in the Division I era and the first game since the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to all NCAA sporting events last March. The Texans will host the Crusaders on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. While it’s the season opener for the Texans, the Crusaders have already played five games and are 1-4 on the year. Tarleton and Dallas Christian are meeting for the 11th time since the two teams first played in 2002. The Texans are 10-0 all-time against the Crusaders with all 10 wins coming in Wisdom Gym. Tarleton has scored 80 or more points in all 10 matchups and won by 20 or more in each game.

NEW-LOOK ROSTER

Tarleton brought in 13-time coach of the year and NCAA tournament winning head coach Billy Gillispie last spring to take the Texans into its Division I era. Of the new players, seven are freshman, four are sophomores to go along with five juniors and one senior. Gillispie most recently came over from Ranger Junior College and he brought five players with him: Montre Gipson, Cadarius Baggett, Shakur Daniel, Heri Ngalamulume, and Jonathan Jackson.
