Hazel Larue Payne, 94, passed away on February 12, 2021 in Stephenville, Texas. She was born on March 3, 1926 in Dublin, Texas to her parents William Perry Whitehead and Grace Lee Whitehead. Hazel was a homemaker and also worked for Payne Auto and Hardware. She married her husband, Orval L. Payne, and together they had four children. She was affiliated with the First Christian Church. Hazel was a member of the Cross Timbers Gem and Mineral Club, she enjoyed oil painting, birds and wildlife. She was passionate about working in her flowerbeds and loved her grandkids very much. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Orval L. Payne, and her daughter Orva Payne. 

Hazel is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Larry Dale and Mary Payne of Joshua, Texas, Tommy Lee and Barbara Payne of Granbury, Texas, Darrell and Lynn Payne of Fort Worth, Texas, and Benny and Melanie Payne of Stephenville, Texas, her grandchildren Leisha Miller, Landon Lee Payne, Jennifer Cook, Gregory Daylon Payne, Skylar Payne, Connor Payne, Audrey Payne, Laura Payne Sanders, Rebecca Hutchins, Emily Payne, Erin McEvoy and Eric Johnson, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and numerous other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. 

Visitation will be held at Harrell Memorial Chapel at 1:00 pm prior to the chapel service. 

Chapel Service will be held at Harrell Memorial Chapel on Feb. 19, at 2:00 pm. 

Interment: New Dublin Live Oak Cemetery
