Texan Golf competing down south at the UTRGV Invitational this week

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Women’s Golf is set for its second tournament of the 2021 spring season at the UTRGV Invitational in McAllen, Texas.

The Texans will compete in the 11-team tournament on Monday-Tuesday at the McAllen Country Club, a Par 72, 6,024-yard course. The 54-hole tournament will feature 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start for each day.

The tournament field features tournament host UTRGV, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Omaha, Lamar, North Dakota, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, Illinois-Chicago, Texas A&M-Kingsville and McLennan College.

The Texans, led by third-year head coach Isabel Jimenez, have two returners and three newcomers on the 2021 spring roster. Junie Khaw leads the Texans in her senior year and the three-time all-conference winner will play as the No. 1 on the roster. Sofia Rodriguez, an all-conference selection last year as a freshman, takes the No. 2 spot on the lineup. Newcomers in roster order are: Alejandra Cambronero (Marbella, Spain), Beatrice Grise (Quebec, Canada), and Marianella Moreschi (Cordoba, Argentina).

Temperatures for the tournament are projected for 80 and 82 degrees each day with Tuesday forecasted to have 20-30 mph winds.
