Texan Golf in first place after opening round of PVAMU Invitational

HOUSTON – Tarleton Golf sits in first place through the first round of the Prairie View A&M Invitational at the Sterling Country Club.

The Texans fired a 309 (+21) in round one of the Par 72, 6,072-yard course. The four-team field was scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday. The Texans played 17 of the 18 holes in round two before it was stopped due to darkness and will be resumed tomorrow along with the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament. Live scoring was not available today and player scores were not inputted in GolfStat with the updated second round results since some teams did not finish the round.

Tarleton leads tournament host Prairie View A&M, who’s in second with a 309 (+21).

All five Texans placed in the top 10 individually after round one, including three of the top four. Sofia Rodriguez leads the Texans after carding a 76 (+4) for second place through 18 holes. Rodriguez is two strokes off the lead, held by Taylor Harvey of PVAMU.

Junie Khaw and Alejandra Cambronero are each tied for third with a score of 77 (+5). Marianella Moreschi follows in fifth with a 79 (+7) and Beatrice Grise is tied for ninth with an 82 (+10).

Tarleton will tee off for the final round on Tuesday at 7 a.m.
