Texans drop both games of twin bill at New Mexico State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Tarleton dropped both games of Friday’s doubleheader against New Mexico State.

Game 1: NM State 8, Tarleton 0 (5)
Tarleton suffered its second no-hit game of the season in the series opener and lost 8-0 to the Aggies in five.

Tristan Bridges pitched all five innings and struck out three. Mackenzie Peterson (hit by pitch) and Hallie Saintignan (error) were the only two Texans to reach base – both in the third inning.

Game 2: NM State 2, Tarleton 0
The bats were quiet in game two of the series as the Texans lost a 2-0 pitcher’s duel in the nightcap.

Tarleton got one hit each from the top of the lineup – Georgia Capell, Bailee Riggs, Morgan Medford. Meanwhile, Julia Wernet was dealing from the circle. She threw all six innings and allowed two runs while striking out three.

Tarleton and New Mexico State will close out the series tomorrow at 2 p.m. CT.
