James M. Hooper Jr., 74, of Bluff Dale, Texas passed away April 19, 2021 at home surrounded by his family after a yearlong battle with cancer.
He was born in Fayette, Alabama to James M. Hooper Sr. and Virginia Bostick Hooper. They moved to Texas where he graduated from Poly High School in 1965, and attended North Texas University. He later completed the plumbers and pipefitters program and was a member of UA Local 146. He later worked and became president and part owner of Freer Mechanical Contractors Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jim was an avid golfer for many years and enjoyed being on the golf course with friends. He enjoyed yearly trips with friends and family such as snow skiing and going to the beach. He also enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas. After retiring in 2007, he enjoyed building and working on his home and land in Bluff Dale, Texas, where he welcomed family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father James M. Hooper Sr., step-father Arlie L. Freer, mother Virginia Bostick Freer, son James M. Hooper III; and sidekick, Buddy the wonder dog.
He leaves behind his wife, Deborah; son, Jon A. Hooper and wife Shelly; daughter, Angela Hooper Sumlin; and grandsons, Hunter James Halcomb, Heath Hooper, and Hayden Hooper.
A Celebration of his life will be held at the family home Saturday May 1st at 11 A.M. – “The Little Ranch” in Bluff Dale. For further information contact Stephenville Funeral Home.
