OREM, Utah – Tarleton suffered an 8-1 loss in the series opener against Utah Valley Friday afternoon.

After the Wolverines struck first on a triple and a wild pitch, Georgia Capell answered the call in the top of the third inning with an RBI single to bring home Bailee Riggs and tie things up at 1-1. That would be all of the offense for the purple and white while Utah Valley scored seven unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Tarleton got one hit each from Riggs, Capell, Jordan Dickerson and Hallie Saintignan while Makenzie Dunbar retired all five batters she faced in 1.2 innings of flawless relief.

The Texans and Wolverines will close out the series and the regular season tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT with a doubleheader.
