The Stephenville HS Yellow Jackets (10-0, 5-0) burned Brownwood (4-6, 2-3) last Friday night, 63-7. The longtime rivals faced off in the final game of district play before both head to playoffs. Stephenville is ranked No. 2 in 4A by Texas Football and are the undefeated leaders of District 6, 4A.

The Jackets started the game strong and fast with 21 points in the first quarter and 35 in the second. Head coach Sterling Doty and staff must have called the Jackets off after the half because after scoring one more time in the third quarter, they didn’t score again and the second string got some playing time.

Stephenville’s Jr. quarterback Ryder Lambert was 13 of 17 passing for 391 yards and six touchdowns. He hit Reece Elston 7 times for 173 yards and 3 touchdowns as well as Coy Eakin 4 times for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lambert later turned it over to sophomore Hyson Foreman who was 3 of 5 for 14 yards passing and got some good experience.

Lambert also got 53 yards and two touchdowns on 6 carries rushing. Eakin got 73 yards and a touchdown and Julian Iribarren got 8 carries for 68 yards.

The Jackets are not only ranked No. 2 by Texas Football, but also by Maxpreps.com, but they have Argyle (9-1) in first with Stephenville in second and LBJ Austin (10-0) in third. Texas Football has LBJ Austin in first, with El Campo in third place behind the Jackets.

Stephenville will face Fort Worth Dunbar (6-4, 4-3) at home in the Tarleton Memorial Stadium Thursday, November 11, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for seat back, $6 for general admission and $4 for students.
