(September 11, 1930 – November 11, 2021)

Billie Jean (Fine) Mayes, 91, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2021 at her residence in Eastland, TX. She was born in Dublin, Texas to her parents James Abraham Fine and Retha Christian Fine on September 11, 1930. After knowing each other for only six weeks, Billie Jean married Anthony Wayne Mayes in 1947. They had two children Richard Earl Mayes (deceased) and Terresa M. Tankersley of Eastland, Texas. While in Houston, she worked for ExxonMobil unti8l her retirement in 1986. She is survived by one brother Allen Z. Fine of Arlington, Texas. 

Billie Jean and Wayne returned to Dublin, Texas for their golden years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Garden Club, and the Thursday Club. She always supported her daughter, a teacher, on her numerous school projects. Self taught, she was an excellent seamstress. Billie Jean was a kind, sweet compassionate lady who cared for anyone, being family or a stranger, who needed help. She made stuffed dolls and animals for children at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. She felt compassion for the homeless standing on the streets by donating money to them and different organizations to help the needy. 

Services have been scheduled for Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 1 p.m. in the Harrell Memorial Chapel in Dublin, TX.

Burial will follow in the New Dublin Liveoak Cemetery.
