On Monday, Lt. Col. Allen West was in town to talk to area voters about the condition of the state of Texas as well as the country. West is a veteran of the U.S. Army (over 20 years) and since 2019 he has been a member of the Texas State Guard.  He served in both the Persian Gulf War and the Iraq War.  While in the U.S. Army, he earned the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. He comes from a family with a military background going back 4 generations.

He is also a former United States Representative and a former Chair of the Texas Republican Party.  On July 4, 2021, West announced he was going to challenge Texas Governor Greg Abbott for the Republican nomination in 2022.  This Stephenville visit provided West the perfect opportunity to let the area voters know his thoughts on Texas, the U.S. Constitution, and the country as well.

When asked about Critical Race Theory, he responded, “CRT is a form of Cultural Marxism and a means of dividing America on a racial basis.”

When asked why he loves America, he said, “America offers equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome.”

The Flash asked West what would be his top three priorities as Governor of Texas he stated, “The border, protecting individual freedoms, and doing all I can to insure Texans can own their own homes.”
