Arthur Harold Caudle of Strawn, Texas, passed from this life February 17, 2022, at 93 years of age. Harold was born January 2, 1929, in Fort Worth, Texas, the firstborn of Forris Temple Caudle and Virgie Mae King Caudle.

Harold grew up around the Fort Griffin, Moran, Alameda, Gorman, and Desdemona areas as a farm kid. He was the brother of Forrist Dwayne Caudle, Ray Edward Caudle and Sheryl Nan Caudle. Harold enlisted in the United States Army in 1948 and was stationed in Orlando, Florida; Fort Worth, Texas; and Okinawa, Japan until he was honorably discharged in 1951.

Harold was married to Daphne Ann Snodgrass of Carbon, Texas, from April 11, 1954, until her death May 23, 2015, over 61 years. They lived in Carbon their first year of marriage, then moved to New Mexico for work. Harold was employed by Strawn Merchandise / Strawn Explosives as a truck driver from 1955 until his retirement in 1991. After three years in New Mexico, they transferred to Fort Stockton, Texas, for two years, then transferred to Strawn in 1960.

Harold was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Strawn. His faith in Jesus Christ was genuine and was the foundation of who he was.  He was supportive of his pastors and often had missionaries and visiting preachers in his home. His desire was for his children to know the Lord and live for Him. He faithfully attended his church until his health failed.

Harold never met a stranger. He would talk to anyone, anywhere. Until his last six months, he was a regular customer at the Greyhound Pac-A-Sac in Strawn for coffee and conversation, usually every morning and every afternoon.

Harold’s survivors include:  Son, Edward Caudle and his children:  Courtney, Amy, Craig and Ashley; Daughter, Mavirda Lepel (Bert) and their daughter:  Johanna; Daughter, Nita Bennett (Skipper) and their children:  Nathan and Bethany; Son, Johnny Caudle and his children:  Seth, Brittany, Justin, and Shea;  Son, Jerry Caudle; Great grandchildren:  Caeden, Anna, Camden, Kolter, Caysen, Paisley, Rayleigh, Maci, Lorena, Hadley, Hagen, and Ryan; Brother, Ray Caudle, Sr.; Sister, Sheryl Caudle; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daphne; his parents, Temple and Virgie; his brother, Dwayne; his grandson, Matthew Lepel; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

The funeral service to honor his life will be Saturday, February 26, 2022, 1:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home, 120 West South Loop, Stephenville, Texas. Graveside service will follow at Merriman Cemetery, 625 FM-2461, Ranger, Texas (approximately 1 mile south of I-20 on FM 2461).
