December 7, 1953 ~ March 6, 2022 (age 68)

Sheila Diane DeFord, 68, of Stephenville joined the Lord peacefully with her children by her side March 6, 2022.

Sheila was born on December 7, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Russ and Mary Louise Johnson Polson. She spent over 32 years as an LVN working in nursing homes, home health, and hospice care. She was a member of Harvey Baptist Church, and has lived in Stephenville over 30 years.

Sheila was a devoted, selfless, amazing, Christian mother. She cherished her grandkids beyond words and was incredibly caring nurse for decades to so many. She filled the lives of everyone she knew with so much laughter, kindness, and generosity. She loved Jesus and instilled that love deeply in her children. She had a passion for those she loved that burned as bright as the sun. No one will ever be missed more than our beautiful Momma. 

“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2 

Sheila is survived by her children: daughter, Corinne and husband Richard King, and their children Minden Grace and Mary Lafitte; her daughter, Charli and husband Creed Cahill, and their children, Madalyn Grace & Robert Sawyer White, Leo & Dutch Cahill; her son, Charles Russell Deford IV; sister, Connie Carroll Rauch; step-mother, Wynell Polson; several nieces and nephews and countless other family that loved her. Beside her parents, Sheila was also preceded in death by her brother, Russ Polson, Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 10th at West End Cemetery with Felix Alvarado officiating. In lieu of flowers The DeFord family has asked for donations to be made in Sheila’s name to the American Nurses Association at nursingworld.org
