ABILENE – It was a tough night for Tarleton in the series opener against Abilene Christian Friday night as the Texans suffered their first WAC loss of the season 3-0 to the Wildcats.

ACU scored all three runs in the second inning with an error and four free bases (two walks and two hit by pitches) while mustering just a one-out single in the inning. For the game, Tarleton allowed 6 walks and hit by pitches to go along with the three defensive miscues but Tristan Bridges was able to keep the Texans close all night.

Outside of the second inning, Bridges danced out of danger by working around four hits and two errors over the next four scoreless innings. The junior southpaw went all six innings and allowed three runs – two earned – on four walks, and, six hits, and two hit batters.

Offensively, Tarleton managed only five hits on the day – two of them for extra bases with doubles from Georgia Capell and Miranda Pruitt – but couldn’t push any runs across. The Texans’ best chance to score came in the top of the first with two runners on and one away before pair of outs ended the threat.

Tarleton and ACU will pick things up tomorrow at noon with a doubleheader.
