Services for Mike Zimmerman, 76, Police Officer, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 18, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Stephenville with Brenda Wier officiating. Burial will follow on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 A.M.. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. Monday, April 18, 2022, at Lacy Funeral Home.
Mike was born in Stephenville, TX on January 7, 1946, to Elverdge (Snook) and Lorene Zimmerman. He married Donna Bruns in Stephenville, TX in 2011.
Mike was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stephenville. He retired from full time duty for the Tarleton State Police Department. He was working part-time for TSU police department at the time of his death.
Mike was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. After serving in the US Air Force in Vietnam, he was in the Texas Highway Patrol for 20 years. Of those twenty years, 6 was highway duty and 14 was on the Texas Governor’s Protective Detail. Then he worked for the IBM Credit Union in Austin. All of that was before he moved back to his hometown of Stephenville and went to work for the Tarleton University Police Department.
Mike is survived by his wife, Donna Dowell Zimmerman; a daughter, Sarah Tenille Cannons; granddaughter, Abigail Brenna Cannons; stepdaughter, Wendy Moser; granddaughters, Brittney and Lacey Moser; stepson, Josh Parrish; and sister, Nadyne Newsom. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Michael Zimmerman and his parents, Elverdge (Snook) and Lorene Zimmerman.
