STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton left no room for doubt as they snagged a 12-0 run rule victory over Wiley College at the Tarleton Baseball Complex on Tuesday evening.

The Texans (13-23) pitched a shutout as the staff allowed just four hits, striking out nine Wildcats in seven innings of play. Freshman Kyler Mentzel (1-3) picked up his first collegiate victory tossing 4.0 scoreless innings, striking out five.

Dylan Kurahashi-Choy Foo walked the game off in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run double down the left field line, thus enacting the ten-run rule after seven innings. The hit was Choy Foo’s third walk off of the season after previously walking UTRGV and St. Thomas off.

Choy Foo and London Green led the Texans offensively with three RBI apiece. Green finished with three hits as he was a single short of the cycle. Corey Young and Colby Seltzer each contributed two RBI.

Tarleton was held off the scoreboard for the first two innings by Wiley starter Jalen Porter, but that changed in a hurry when he exited the game after the second inning.

The Texans plated three runs in the third thanks to a Wildcat error that scored Alec Williams and a Young two-run double to right field.

Green sent a towering shot over the right field wall to make it 4-0 in the fourth. It was his eighth home run in the last ten games to put him at 10 on the season.

The fifth inning brought two more runs home for Tarleton. Freshman Karson Krowka hit an infield RBI single to the shortstop to score Kade Turnage and then the Wildcats walked in a run to make it 6-0, Texans.

The seventh inning was all she wrote as Tarleton delivered six runs in the inning. The scoring got started with Green doubling to left field and scoring Rhett Gallagher. In the next at bat, Seltzer came through with a two run double to center field.

Wiley hit Zach Mesa and walked Turnage to set the stage for Choy Foo’s walk off.

Zane Badmaez pitched an inning in relief of Mentzel allowing one hit and striking out one. Riley Boyd pitched 1.1 innings, striking out two. Freshman Aiden Adams threw 0.2 innings allowing a hit and striking out one.
