(December 19, 1953 – June 6, 2022)

In loving memory of our mother, partner, sister, and Gigi, Cherry LaVivian Gross (maiden: Williams), who gained her angel wings on June 6th, 2022 at 10:30pm. She was the loving mother of Bobby Gross and April Anderson, the devoted life partner of Jose Cortez, baby sister to Linda McClary, and Gigi to six incredible grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and were loved by her.

Cherry was the kindest, most caring, and giving woman you’ve ever met. She always put the needs of her family and loved ones before her own. With an unconditional servant’s heart and unmatched grit, she faced every challenge in her life with strength and dignity from the day she was born to the moment she passed. To know her meant you would become a better human and the loss earth side of her cherry disposition is heaven’s gain.

Growing up, our mom was always there for us. No matter the ask, she was present. Nothing was too big or too small. She was a woman of deep, personal faith and she instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is kind first and always. We are better people because we got to call her mom and we’re lucky that God chose us to be the only two humans on the planet to know what her heart sounds like from the inside. Let us tell you, there is no greater privilege.

Cherry was born in Fort Worth, TX on December 19th, 1953. She was predeceased in death by her mother and father Lee Edward Williams and Norma June Gunsolus Williams. Her aunts and uncles Johnie Williams, Ola Williams, Lola Kennedy, Virginia Turner, Larry Gunsolus, and Georgia Lee. And her grandparents Jewel Evelyn Turner, Jim Williams, Marjorie Evelyn Jordan, and Clarence Gunsolus. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law and their four children, Bobby, Valarie, Brody, Braelynn, Brayden, and Brayson Gross. Her daughter and son-in-law and their two children, April, Jason, Jackson, and Axel Anderson. Her sister and brother-in-law, Linda & Mac McClary. Her nephew Ryan Hilscher. And her long-time life partner of 22 years Jose Cortez and his family who loved Cherry as their own.

Cherry will be laid to rest in Hico Cemetery in Hico, TX on June 12th, 2022 at 11:11am during a private, graveside service. A grand celebration of life will be forthcoming for all who knew and loved her at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in the coming weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Faith Presbyterian may be made in her honor here: https://www.faithpreshospice.org/support/ to support the work these angels are doing to make earth as it is in heaven. Cherry spent her final week on earth at this precious to us place and peace fell over us all the moment she arrived. Our mom was truly able to rest for the first time in her life when she laid next to the water in room 206 and the peace we saw in her there will stay with us always.

Mama, you will always be in our hearts, and we will carry you with us forever and ever Amen. We love you doesn’t even describe it, but it’s the best we can put into words. Rest in peace.
