Tarleton’s Angelone Leads CNFR Breakaway Ropers

Tarleton breakaway roper flashed a 2.0 time Tuesday to take the event lead at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.

STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton breakaway roper Sarah Angelone shot into the event lead Tuesday with her second-go 2.0 clocking at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.

Angelone’s time was fourth in the go-round and, added to her first-round 2.4, gives her the lead with only her Friday run left before the championship finals Saturday.

In other Tuesday action involving Tarleton competitors, steer wrestler Ty Allred faced two steers, registering a fourth-place 4.1 in early slack, then a 7.0 in the late performance. Fellow steer wrestler Walt Arnold earned a 4.2, good for seventh in the slack competition. His third go-round is set for Thursday.

Tie-down roper Brayden Roe flashed a 10.7 Tuesday for fourth place on the day, added to his Monday 11.1 time. His third go is set for Friday.

Team ropers Brett Stuart and Mason Pitts also had two runs Tuesday, clocking a 15.0 in the early slack and getting a no score Tuesday night.

On tap for Tarleton qualifiers, saddle bronc rider Cash Wilson carries a 79-71-150 into today’s performance, and breakaway roper Maddy Deerman puts her two-head 5.6 on the line against her third-go calf.

Brody Wells looks to add to his 80-73-153 saddle bronc tally Friday.
