Michael was born in Pulaski, Virginia on July 21, 1969, to Michael P. Clarkson and Rebecca (Leagans) Simpkins. He married Cassandra Thompson on March 8, 2018, in Stephenville, Texas.
Michael is survived by his wife, Cassandra Clarkson; children, Amber Clarkson, Myranda Clarkson, Victoria (Clarkson) Gregory; and Elora Puckett; grandchild, Isabelle Gregory; brother, Thomas L. Clarkson and his sons Kaman and Aiden; and Aunt Priscilla Noel and husband Robert and their two children, Roman and Brittany; Brittany’s husband Adrian and son Chase; Uncle Gary Clarkson and wife Patty and their three daughters, Christy, Correy, and Casey and Casey’s children Scarlett and Sophie.
Mike had a personality that was larger than life. He loved cooking, fishing, and most of all music. A song he loved was “A Tout le Monde” by Megadeth. Through the song’s lyrics he would say:
So as you read this, know, my friends
I’d love to stay with you all
Please smile when you think of me
My body’s gone, that’s all
If my heart was still alive
I know it would surely break
And my memories left with you
There’s nothing more to say
Moving on is a simple thing
What it leaves behind is hard
You know the sleeping feel no more pain
And the living are scarred
A tout le monde
These are the last words
I’ll ever speak
And they’ll set me free
