DELEON – Tony Lee Moore, 72, was born Aug. 29, 1949 and passed on July 10,2022 to his Heavenly reward after several years of bad health. He had a larger-than-life personality and was greatly loved as a husband, father, brother and friend.

Memorial service to be announced at a later date.

Tony was a 1967 graduate of Azle High School. He married his high school sweetheart, MaryDee Burch, on June 12, 1969. They celebrated 53 years of marriage on June 12, 2022. Their son, Troy, was born in 1972. Tony was very proud of his son and tried to teach him a lot of life skills. He helped Troy build and restore his 1965 Mustang.

He served 6 years with the US Coast Guard, exiting with a rank of 1st Class Boatswain mate or E-5. He had earned an Associate Degree in Business Management. He started a career with the United States Postal Service in 1974, until his health required him to take early retirement in 1996. He was postmaster at DeLeon, Texas at that time.

After retirement, he kept busy by attending and selling at flea markets and later selling at gun shows. He loved collecting and shooting guns. In the past year, as his health declined his gun show “family” helped tremendously; which enabled him to continue buying, selling and interacting with people. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of guns with others.

Tony had a love of classic cars and hot rods. He was a longtime member of the Lone Star Street Rod Association. He, his wife, MaryDee and son, Troy started attending car shows in 1979. He continuously owned at least one hot rod since his first car at age 16, a 1940 Ford Opera Coupe.

He was preceded in death by his father Lonnie, mother Glenda & sister Judy Dixon.

Tony is survived by his wife, MaryDee; son, Troy; and brother, Bernie Moore (Julie).
