Leonard Dale Sanders passed away suddenly at his daughter’s home on May 12, 2022. He was born November 16, 1935 in Gustine, Texas to Odie Calvin Sanders and Clara Elva Sanders. He graduated from Gustine High School in 1955. After graduation, he joined the US Army and completed basic training at Fort Ord, CA with his brother. When home on a five-day leave, he married Charlotte Emille Croker of Comanche, TX on June 4, 1956. They moved to Austell, GA while he was stationed at Fort McPherson, GA as an aircraft mechanic. After serving two years in the Army they moved to Dallas, then Richardson, TX where they remained throughout their nearly 66 years of marriage.

In his earlier years, he loved to fish and help out his community by working on cars and bicycles and helping however he could. Later in life, he loved attending grandkids and great-grandkids sporting and school events. In his later years, he loved watching old western movies, working jigsaw puzzles and working dot-to-dot books.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Sanders on May 7, 2022. He is survived by his daughter Marsha Newman and husband, Jerry; daughter, Jana Spradlin and husband, Jeffrey; son Bryan Sanders and wife, Kim; six grandchildren, Derek Newman, Colby Newman, Kyle Saravino, Keaton Saravino, Haley Gentle, and Nathan Sanders; and six great-grandchildren, Austin and Landon Newman, Emma and Leila Newman, and Jackson and Alayna Gentle.

Service Information

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, in the Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche.
