STEPHENVILLE – The 2022 Tarleton Football schedule has altered, the Texans and Western Athletic Conference announced on Thursday.

“I’m elated to be able to announce our updated football schedule so quickly after the latest developments out of two programs previously on our 2022 slate,” said Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Lonn Reisman. “This was definitely a challenge to put this together in July, but thanks to WAC commissioner Brian Thornton, the WAC office, and the other WAC athletic directors, we all cooperated very well to get this taken care of.

“I’m excited to keep six home games at Memorial Stadium, a priority for me, because our students and fans deserve every chance to watch this elite program compete in Stephenville. This should be a fun and challenging season for our student-athletes as we enter our third year of reclassification, and I can’t wait to get started on Thursday, Sept. 1.”

The first four weeks remain the same as the previous version, with the season beginning Thursday, Sept. 1, against Mississippi Valley State at Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. CT. Tarleton will then play at TCU on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. CT, vs. Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. CT, and at North Alabama on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. CT.

Tarleton’s bye week is now on Oct. 1, a break inside of a three-game road trip for the Texans. On Oct. 8, Tarleton will square off with brand new WAC member Southern Utah in Cedar City at 7 p.m. CT. The Texans will then head to Nacogdoches to face Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. CT.

One of two new opponents to the slate is Southwest Baptist, scheduled to play in Stephenville against Tarleton on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. CT. That’s the beginning of a three-game homestand for the Texans, who next take on Sam Houston on Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. CT, followed by Abilene Christian on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. CT.

The second new opponent for the Texans is Utah Tech, a fellow WAC program, who will meet on Nov. 12 in St. George (time to be announced). Finally, Tarleton will host Houston Baptist on Nov. 19 at Memorial Stadium at 2 p.m. CT to end their 2022 campaign.

The order for home promotional games remains the same, with Tarleton hosting its Purple Out on Sept. 1, Family Weekend on Sept. 17, Pink Out on Oct. 22, Homecoming on Oct. 29, Military Appreciation on Nov. 5, and Legends Game on Nov. 19. All games hosted by a WAC team will be broadcast on ESPN+ in 2022. The full schedule can be seen below and by clicking here.
