Ailie Hair has had an impressive start to the 2022 volleyball season to say the least.

The Western Athletic Conference announced Monday that Hair, a freshman middle blocker, was named the WAC Volleyball Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Hair helped lead Tarleton to a 3-1 record last week, while continuing their domination at Wisdom Gym with three wins there to move to 6-0 overall at home.

The Liberty Hill native hit a combined .571 with 3.64 points per set on the week. In the win over Southeastern Louisiana, she compiled a season-high 19 kills with a .783 hitting percentage. She followed that up with an 11-kill performance while hitting .733 in a win over Tennessee State.

On the season, Hair leads Tarleton and the WAC with a .520 hitting percentage. Her 22.0 total blocks are a team-high as well. She ranks third on the team with 61 kills.

The week two award winners from the WAC were identical to week one. SFA’s Haley Hoang picked up defensive player of the week and UTRGV’s Sarah Cruz earned offensive player of the week both for the second straight week.

The Texans host UIW on Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT in Wisdom Gym. It will be Tarleton’s last home match until Sept. 22 when they welcome UTRGV to Stephenville.
