A juvenile suspect has been arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat in a case that has had parents talking since the weekend.

According to a release from Erath County Sheriff Matt Coats, “On Saturday the 3rd day of September 2022, the Erath County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by school staff at the Lingleville Independent School District about a potential safety concern at the school that had just recently come to their attention.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s office began their investigation immediately. This has been an ongoing investigation since that date.  A number of witnesses were interviewed as a result of this investigation.  Uniformed and non-uniformed law enforcement officers were at the Lingleville ISD campus as they are with all school campuses in Erath County.  While the investigation was ongoing, the steps were taken by both law enforcement and school district officials to maintain the safety of the Lingleville ISD campus.

Today the investigation has developed into an arrest and the charging of a juvenile suspect.  The name of the juvenile suspect will not be released because of their age.

Again, the Erath County Sheriff’s office and the Lingleville Independent School district as with all school districts in Erath County, take the safety and security of the school children very seriously. The Erath County Sheriff’s Office and the school districts are taking all appropriate steps and measures to ensure their safety.”
