August 20, 1939 ~ September 9, 2022 (age 83)

On September 9, 2022, Mary Beth Lambert Moore, 83, died peacefully in her sleep. Mary was born August 20,1939 to Wilburn E. Lambert and Myrtle Laney Lambert. She graduated from Godley High School and married Benny Wayne Moore of Rio Vista. Together, Mary and Benny raised two children, Donna and Jeff.

They moved to Stephenville in 1963 where Mary worked as a photographer at Miller’s Studio, a bank teller at Farmer’s First National Bank and later at Stephenville Savings and Loan. Mary and Benny enjoyed life through traveling, camping, fishing, water sports and dancing. They loved to take their three granddaughters on camping trips as well. They made many friends throughout their adventures together. After Benny’s death in 1991, Mary moved to Lake Leon and worked at David’s grocery store as a checker until securing a custodial position at Eastland ISD, where she retired.

After retirement, Mary enjoyed gardening, reading and continued to do some traveling. Many, many fun memories were made with kids, grandkids, great grandkids, good friends and other family members at her lake house on Lake Leon or at the beach in Port Aransas. Once she became a grandmother, she was known as “Granny” to ALL.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her three siblings, several nieces and nephews and a great grandson – think of the joyous reunion! She is survived by her daughter, Donna Beth Moore Huckabee (Jerry Huckabee) of Mathis, TX (formerly Stephenville,) son, Jeffrey Wayne Moore of Lake Leon (formerly Stephenville,) three granddaughters, Jeri Lynn Huckabee Lewis (Richard Lewis) of Justin, Jalen Huckabee Newman (Nathan Newman) of Calallen, Jaime Huckabee Barnes (Chase Barnes) of Hico, and thirteen great grandchildren.

If you knew Mary, you probably have a fun story to share. We, the family, ask that you think of her with a smile as you remember those fun times. We would also like to thank Harbor Hospice-Rockport/Portland, Dr. Charles Gregory-Portland and Caraday Assisted Living-Corpus Christi for the love and care you all gave to keep her comfortable in her final earthly days.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation starting at 10 before the service. Interment will follow the service at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Erath County.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
