STEPHENVILLE – Bolstered by a four-goal second half, the Tarleton women’s soccer team extended their home winning streak to three matches after a 5-0 win over UTPB Friday night at the Tarleton Soccer Complex.

The Texans (4-1-1) haven’t allowed a home goal in 270 minutes at home while outscoring opponents 14-0 in three matches.

Nicole Fels got the Texans on the scoreboard right before the halftime whistle when she headed home a perfectly placed ball off of the foot of Macie Johnson. It was Fels’ first goal and Johnson’s first assist of the season.

Jenaya Brown increased the Texan lead in the 50th minute with a stunner of a free kick beating the UTPB goalkeeper to the upper left-hand corner. Eight minutes later, Mila Bettinelli increased the Tarleton lead to 3-0 when she headed home a cross from Kyra Goudzwaard.

Bettinelli’s goal gives her the team lead with seven points – three goals and an assist.

Avery Harr got in on the scoring action in the 69th minute when she scored on a rocket from 30 yards out, notching her third goal of the season.

The match’s final goal came with five seconds left, when Lindsey Schiller slotted home her first goal of the season on an assist from Lindsey Beyers.

The Texans will hit the road for a match Sunday at Louisiana Monroe. Kickoff in the non-conference affair is slated for 1 p.m. CT.
