STEPHENVILLE — It’s been a special start to the season for both Beau Allen and Adrian Guzman. On Monday, it got even better.

The Western Athletic Conference announced Monday that Tarleton Football’s Beau Allen and Adrian Guzman were named Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.

This is Allen’s first career weekly award, and for Guzman his third, the second of the season. Both players earned their honor after helping the Texans win 43-28 at North Alabama. Tarleton improved to 3-1 on the year and snapped the Lions’ 16-game homecoming winning streak in the process.

Allen completed 18-of-29 (.621) passes for a career-high 316 yards and a career-high four touchdowns, while adding 32 yards on seven carries. He was the lone QB in the WAC this week to finish with 300+ yards and 3+ TD. His four touchdown passes are tied for the most TD passes by a WAC QB this season, and his 86-yard pass to Jaden Smith during the game is the longest pass in the conference this year.

Across the WAC this season, Allen has the most passing touchdowns (10), has accounted for the most touchdowns overall (11), the most 300+ yard games (three), and the highest passing efficiency (150.1). He’s second in passing yards per game (284.8) and total passing yards (1,139). Across all of the FCS, only seven QBs have more passing yards and only nine QBs have more passing touchdowns.

Allen’s three 300+ yard games through four contests to start his Tarleton career are the most in program history in such a stretch.

Guzman, meanwhile, was perfect on the day, going 2-for-2 on field goals from 35 and 20 yards out, plus 5-of-5 on extra points. He is still perfect on the year in field goals, going 6-for-6 thus far.

In the WAC, he is the lone perfect field goal kicker remaining, and owns the most field goal makes overall at six. He is averaging the most kicking points per game (nine) and has the tied-longest field goal make on the season at 47 yards.

Also announced Monday, Southern Utah’s Rodrick Ward was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week.
