Woody was born in Lubbock, Texas on May 11, 1958 to the late William Hoyt and Artie B. Owen Scitern.  He moved to Stephenville from Bangs, Tx in 2008. He was employed by Saint-Gobain Abrasives, Inc for 20+ years where he formed many cherished friendships.  Before settling down in Stephenville, he lived in Graham, Tx where he met the love of his life, Nora.  They moved to Weatherford, Tx for several years before moving to Bangs. In his short 64 years on this earth, he touched so many lives. If you had the privilege of knowing Woody, you know he was truly one of a kind. To know him, was to love him.  Woody was a loving husband, father, papa and friend.  He was so charismatic and full of life.  He had a knack for storytelling and just loved making people laugh.  It was near impossible to be in a foul mood when you were in his presence.  Fishing and metal detecting were two of his favorite pastimes but spending quality time with his family was number one. He developed a love for the beach and ocean while growing up in Concord, California where he lived for many years before moving back to Texas where he lived out the remainder of his days.

Woody is survived by his wife, Nora; children, son, Jason and his wife Kandice Scitern, and their children, Foster and Raelyn; daughter, Amber and her husband Jason Griffin, and their children Evie and Ethan; daughter, Maegan and her husband Jason Westbrook, and their children Avery, Kaylee, and Parker; son, Todd Sparks, and his son Landon; and  daughter, Lindsay Scitern and Justin McCann; brother, Marshall Scitern; sisters, Cookie and husband Mickey Rutherford; and Debbie and husband Steve Horton; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Woody was also preceded in death by a brother and sister.
