Don Edwards was born March 20 1939 and called by his Lord and Savior to Heaven on October 23, 2022. His wife Kathy and his dogs by his side. Nothing made Don happier than to be with his family. Don Edwards was a talented entertainer that received multiple awards over his 55 year career span in the music business. He received a Grammy nomination, was in a major motion picture, inducted in the Cowboy hall of fame as a recipient of the Chester Reynolds award and also many documentaries. He was also proud that he got his star in the Western Walk of Stars in Newhall, California. Don was dedicated to his music and the history and was known as a top musicologist in his field. Don played a major role in the rejuvenation of the Fort Worth Stockyards. He was the definition of a gentleman.

Don was a kind loving gentle soul to all who knew him. He would always take the time to help anybody that needed it. He was so generous with his talent and loved his fans. He built a home outside of Hico, Texas, Singin Hills Ranch that he shared with his wife.

He started his career at Six Flags over Texas as a singing cowboy. He stayed true to the traditional music and later signed to Warner Brothers.

Don was married to the love of his life and best friend for over 45 years. They traveled together all over the world as a team and where you saw one you saw the other was not far behind.

Don is survived by his wife Kathy, daughters Courtney Gatewood, Llayne Padgett, Son in law Richard Gatewood, Grandchildren, Jake Gatewood, Shelby Gatewood, Lauren Padgett and Maddy Padgett and sister Nancy Hezlitt.

He will be missed by those who loved him, but his music has touched so many and the rich legacy that he has built will live on over generations. He was one of a kind, a loving soul.

The family would like to express gratitude and appreciation for the loving care of Elara Hospice and to our Guardian Angel Lydia Massingill. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Fairy Baptist Church, 19255 FM 1602, Hico, TX 76457
