The Stephenville Yellow Jackets are dealing with a lot of changes this season – injuries, venue changes and now playing on Thursday evening. Due to the chance of incoming weather on Friday, the Jackets’ game against the La Vega Pirates has been moved to Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. It will still be played at La Vega High School in Waco.

The Jackets (7-2, 1-2) will face the La Vega Pirates (5-4, 2-1) after losing their last two games by less than 2 points and are in need of a win. Stephenville, who was in first place in 4A at the time, lost by two points (36-38) to the second place China Spring Bulldogs (7-1, 4-0), putting them in first place. (More on that game here.) Then the Jackets lost by one point (49-50) to a winless in district Alvarado (4-5, 1-2). The loss to AHS dropped SHS out of the top ten in 4A and pushed the Alvarado Indians into third place in district play above Stephenville who now sits in fourth place in District 5, 4A.

A win on Thursday will put the Jackets in third place. The fourth place team in district will play the winner of District 6, 4A and the third place team will face the second place team from District 6.

In District 6, 4A, there is a three-way tie in district play between Dunbar (5-4, 5-1), Lake Worth (7-2, 5-1) and Kennedale (6-3, 5-1). So while it could be any of these teams Stephenville faces in the bi-district round of playoffs, it does appear Jacket fans will be headed toward the Metroplex for their Round 1 game.
