The Stephenville Yellow Jackets (9-3) have finished their 2022 football season following a heartbreaking 32-33 loss to the Anna Coyotes (12-0) last week.

While it was a great game, the final few minutes did not go in the Jackets’ favor and the Coyotes took the Area Championship, moving on to face Celina this week.

After defeating Fort Worth Dunbar (5-6) in the Bi-District Round, 56-20, the Stephenville faithful were looking to a battle against #2 ranked and undefeated Anna, and a battle was what they got.

Stephenville senior quarterback Ryan Lambert was 14 of 23 for 231 yards, a touchdown and an interception. His main targets were senior Payton Poston who caught 5 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown and sophomore Tristian Gentry who caught 4 passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns and junior Tate Maruska who had 2 catches for 9 yards and a TD. On the ground, Maruska carried the ball 34 times for 201 yards while Lambert had 3 carries for 54 yards and Gentry had a carry for three yards.

Congratulations go out to the team and coaching staff for a great season.
