August 6, 1943 ~ December 10, 2022 (age 79)
Jackie Dale Hill, our beloved husband, Dad, and “Papa” went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the age of 79 years. He was born on August 6, 1943 in Brady, Texas to Kimsey Raydell “Ray” and Annie Mae (Koerner) Hill. He joined the US Army in May of 1960, he was honorably discharged with the rank of SP4 on March 31, 1968. He married Elaine (Steele) Hill on August 18, 1978 in Big Lake, Texas where he worked various jobs in construction, chemical sales, and contract pumping while raising his family. He was a gifted cook that could create a delicious meal out of just about anything – never measuring any ingredient which made his recipes impossible to copy. His life’s passion was realized in opening his BBQ restaurant “The Smokehouse” where he served his incredible food with his homemade BBQ Sauce to customers from all over the country. He enjoyed spending time with his family – whether it was golfing, hunting, fishing on the lake, watching his kids/grandkids play sports, gambling at the casinos, or just sitting in his den watching his favorite westerns. Jackie never missed the chance to visit with neighbors, take a spontaneous road trip to see his family, or share his ice cream with the neighborhood children, a true testament to a lifetime of making a difference in the lives of so many. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Vick and Larry, and son Michael. His legacy of love is found in his survivors: his wife, his children Dianna Hill-Bruce, Jackie Dale Jr. “Bud” and wife Johnnie, Shawn and wife Tina, Jackie and wife LaTisha, Cory and wife Heather, grandchildren Stephanie Harris, Stacy Castanuela, Lesley Cortez, Logan (Courtney), Ashleigh (Johnathan), Mikael (Andrea), Ambra (Ciara), Hunter, Alex (Daniela), Kaylee, Gaige, Harley, and Stryker, and great-grandchildren Israel, Courtney, and Allison Torres, Felicity Hope and Abigail Castanuela, and Jayden and Joslynn Ewing, Khy and Ton Hill, Nathan and Johsie Butler, Eastin and MJ Hill, and Sarah Hill. He is also survived by sister Peggy, brothers Donnie and Tommy, numerous nephews and nieces, and his special caregiver Yvonne Blair. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
