Clayton Douglas “Doug” Hammer, of Dublin, TX, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. He was 71 years old. A visitation has been scheduled for Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Harrell Funeral Home in Dublin, TX. A graveside service will be held on December 18, 2022 at Upper Green Creek Cemetery at 2:00PM, with Rev. Ben McCleery officiating.

Doug was born in Austin, TX on December 16, 1950 to Aubrey Allen and Billie Jean Hammer. He was the oldest of six children. Doug went to school in Leander, TX, where he graduated in 1969. He went on to attend Cisco Junior College, where he met the love of his life, Cheryl Clark. Doug and Cheryl were married on June 2, 1973, and moved to Dublin, where he started his concrete construction business. It was here that they made their home for almost 50 years, and where they raised their three children, Melissa, Shelly, and Ryan. When Doug wasn’t working, he loved riding horses, and enjoyed roping competitively, a trait that he seemed to have passed on to his grandkids. Doug loved spending time with family and friends, sitting on the front porch, and enjoying his grandkids. Doug was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Doug is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Dublin, TX; two daughters, Melissa Jackson (Keith) of Hico, TX, and Shelly Hammer of Austin, TX; one son, Ryan Hammer (Misha) of Dublin, TX; three sisters, Linda Hammer and Tracey Woody of Abilene, TX, and Keily Turner (James) of Bangs, TX; one brother, Thomas Hammer (Janet) of May, TX; four grandchildren, Emilee and Tyler Jackson, Miles Griffith, and Milly Hammer. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.A. and Billie Jean Hammer, his in-laws, Ed and Fran Clark, and his sister, Judy Jackson.
