Don, Dad, Coach, Mr. Procter, and his favorite name of all, Paw.  He was a son, brother, friend, athlete, farmer, mentor, and family man. People who knew Don never had anything negative to say about him. He loved telling stories of days gone by and had a way of keeping his audience captivated.  The Colorado convicts in the 70’s was always his favorite story.  His gait was slow, but his wit was quick.  He waited a long time for grandkids, but when the time came, he soaked up every second with his Sylas.  Whatever she wanted to do, he did without hesitation, whether it be splashing in the rain, making muddy puddles, having mud ball fights, or building sandcastles. Meredith came along a bit late so she will miss out on making many wonderful memories with her Paw.  Don was so many things to so many people, but one thing he will never be is forgotten.

Don was born on March 14, 1947, in Stephenville, to the late Charlie Robert and Bertha Agnes Russell Procter.  He married Paula Brooks on June 4, 1976, in Stephenville.  Don graduated from Lingleville High School and Tarleton State University.  He was an Ag teacher and a lifelong resident of Erath County.

Don is survived by his wife, Paula; son, Donald Chad Procter, daughter, Kasi and her husband Jeremy Smith; grandchildren, Sylas Jacklyn Monroe Smith and Meredith Gene Smith.

Beside his parents, Don was preceded in death by his four brothers, Charlie, William, Tommie, and Marshall ‘Digger’ Procter; and by a sister, Johnnie Jo Anderson.
