Doris Marie Threadgill, 83, of Stephenville, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at her residence.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary at 7pm on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Erath County. Interment to follow at the Johnsville Cemetery.
Doris was born on December 18, 1939 in Waterbury, CT to the late Alice B. Roussin and Leonidas St. Laurent. Doris was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, riding horses, and being an overall active person in many clubs. Her biggest passion was her family. Doris had six children, Michael, Jim, Robert, David, Patty, and Tim. She was so proud of her husband, six children, sixteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, often calling herself “Silly Memere”. She loved to laugh and spend time with her friends and family.
She was very active in Erath County, some of the activities she loved include, being a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; Hico Iris Club; Erath County Quilt Club; Erath County Master Gardeners; Erath County Extension; and The Helping Hands of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Doris loved volunteering her time and talents with the 4-H Sewing Camp every summer. She loved teaching, but she also loved learning new things. There was nothing that she couldn’t master. She loved and was loved by so many people.
Survivors include her husband, Morris Threadgill; siblings, Lorraine Bourette of Ft. Pierce, Fl., Robert St. Laurent and wife Diane of Franklin, Ct., Jeanette Schmidt and husband Dave of Plainville, Ct., Beatrice Lacombe and husband Robert of Andover, Ct.,; children, Michael Lewis and wife Kim of Crawley, Jim Lewis of Dublin, Robert Lewis of Medina, David Lewis and wife Dawn of Springtown, Patty Lewis of Hico, and Tim Lewis and wife Chris of Stephenville; grandchildren, Nichole Burmeier, Kelly Emmert, Paul Lewis, Kevin Lewis, Klint Lewis, Claire Lewis, Zack Lewis, Makayla Jackson, Makenzie Lewis, Heith Lewis, Mariah Cortez, Bethany Garcia, Zane Whitehead, Courtney Whitehead, Jocelyn Winn and Jacob Lewis; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Chase, Adalie, Sophie, Madison, Jeremy, Charlie, Jack, James, and Gentry; sister in law and husband Monica and Joe Crouch; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice B. Roussin St. Laurent and Leonidas St. Laurent; and a brother, Norman St. Laurent.
