Clarence Hoelscher, 89, of Stephenville, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at his residence.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the Stephenville Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery. 

Clarence was born on January 8,1933 in Olfen, Texas to the late Walter and Mary Knoff Hoelscher, the fourth of eleven children. He was raised and went to school in Olfen, and graduated from Rowena High School. In 1954 he was drafted into the Army serving 15 months in Korea. Clarence married Carolyn Schroeder on February 7,1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst, TX, and together had four children, Karen Ann, Warren Joseph, Diane Marie, and Brian Walter.

Clarence worked at FMC, starting in Houston and moving to Stephenville. He retired from FMC after 35 years and went into the dairy business for the next 25 years. He continued to farm and raise beef cattle. Clarence enjoyed listening to Country and Western music and spending time drinking coffee with his family and friends.

Clarence is a very active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Brendan’s serving as an usher. He has also been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1981.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Hoelscher; children, Karen Rust and husband Kevin, Warren Hoelscher, Diane Havlak and husband Jim, and Brian Hoelscher; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; Three brothers; and three sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Hoelscher; as well as three brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Corey Geisendorff, Hayden Hoelscher, Ethan Hoelscher, Grayson Hoelscher, Quinton Havlak, and Caleb Lapka.
