Jayden Kahne McKinney, 15, of Stephenville, died as a result of an accident on Sunday, March 26, 2023.

A Celebration of Jayden’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 31st at the First Baptist Church in Stephenville, with Pastor Ed Dittfurth officiating.  Visitation with the McKinney family will be Thursday, March 30th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home.  Following services on Friday, at the wishes of Jayden’s family, Jayden’s body will be cremated.

Jayden Kahne McKinney was born on August 3rd, 2007 to proud parents, Jason and Kristi McKinney. He was an only child until he was 10 years old when he was promoted to big brother status with the birth of Karter Rein. Jayden attend school in Stephenville his whole life and is a member of the class of 2026. Jayden participated in all kinds of sports; soccer, t-ball, baseball, football, and basketball. Through all those sports he built unbreakable bonds and had many people pour into him.

He always made good grades with little effort and participated in many school organizations. His sixth grade run for student council was a very proud achievement for him and us. Jayden sang often and even tried to learn the ukulele. Dancer, well he thought he had rhythm, none the less he was a ladies’ man and his infectious smile can light up a room.

Jayden lived every day to the fullest. Whether golfing, fishing, and gaming, he did it with passion, but always for a good time and a good laugh. There was never a dull moment with Jayden and his quick wit and sense of humor were infectious. He loved deeply and was deeply loved. His light continues to shine and as this story goes…

Jayden is survived by his parents, Jason and Kristi McKinney; little brother, Karter McKinney; paternal grandparents, Ronnie and Brenda McKinney of Stephenville; maternal grandparents, Benny and Sammie Vaughn of Stephenville; uncles and aunts, Travis and Kimmie McKinney of Stephenville, Karen Vaughn of Arlington, Keisha Vaughn of Justin, Kody and Kolbie Fee of Graham, and Kameron Vaughn of Midland; cousins, Carson, Camden and Kallyn McKinney of Stephenville, Avery Haney of Justin, and Colton Fee of Graham; and countless special friends and family.

Jayden was preceded in death by great grandparents, Gilbert and Guyla Davis, LT and Mildred McKinney, James (Mac) and Shirley McPherson, and Ray and Esther Vaughn.
