Vivian Oleta Brashear, 99, a long-time resident of Stephenville, Texas, went to be with her Lord on May 1, 2023, after a brief illness. Born April 11, 1924, to Wesley Virgil and Dessie Stewart Brashear in Bronte, Texas, Vivian was converted and baptized at Tennyson Baptist Church at an early age. She lived in the San Angelo and Sweetwater areas until 1939 and graduated from Littlefield High School in 1941. Vivian worked for Texas Electric Service Company in Sweetwater from 1944 until her retirement in 1985. She began as a meter reader during World War II and moved on to the distribution department where she retired 40 years later as Associate Engineering Technician. While living in Sweetwater, Vivian was a member of Broadway Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School classes for many years.

After moving to Stephenville in 1989, she became a member of Victory Baptist Church and continued to serve her church and community as a teacher and loving caregiver. Many generations of children learned to love Jesus by watching “Miss Vivian’s” Bible stories come alive on her flannel board.

Vivian never married but had an extended family that was an important part of her life. She is survived by her sister-in-law Lucille Brashear of Dublin, Nephew Bud McGuire and Brenda of Conroe, Nephew Mike Brashear and Priscilla of San Antonio, Nephew Brent Brashear of Dublin, Niece Sherry Gerber and Mark of Dublin, and many great nephews and nieces.

Vivian was preceded in death by her sister, Tressie Opal McGuire, brother Travis Monroe Brashear, and brother Kenneth Dale Brashear.

Services for Vivian will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel in Stephenville, and graveside services at 3:00 PM Saturday afternoon at the Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater.  Visitation with the Brashear family will be Friday evening at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in Vivian’s name.
