Bobby Joe Anderson, dad, brother, Grandad, Uncle Bob and friend, went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2023.  Born on August 23, 1939, to Dink and Florence of Chalk Mountain, Texas, he attended Duffau school and later went on to the University of Texas at Arlington, and he was a long time member at Pony Creek Baptist Church

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 12, 2023 at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Paul Kenley, officiating.  Burial will follow at Lingleville East End Cemetery.  Visitation with the Anderson family will begin at 2:00 PM, prior to the service at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Married on August 25, 1959 to Johnnie Jo Anderson at Plainview Baptist Church in Chalk Mountain, Texas.  He was in one of the first groups in Texas to hold an irrigation license. Bobby Joe became head of one of the first computer drafting systems in the country at Carter and Burgess Engineering.  He was proud of the projects he worked on while he was there, such as DFW Airport Irrigation, Fort Worth Water Gardens and several Wal-Mart distribution centers.

After retirement, Bobby and Johnnie returned to the 100-year-old family farm in Chalk Mountain where they loved watching the deer and the turkeys from their easy chairs. The Rocky Hill farm was more than home for Bobby, he loved telling about its history to anyone that would listen. He was so proud of his family and never let you forget that.

Bobby and Johnnie were married for 61 years before her death in 2021. They traveled the country together, to every state, except Hawaii. 

Pallbearers will be Mike Yates, Zach Walker, Zach Turner, Brandon Washnock, Matthew Hawthorne, and Michael Moore-Yates.

Honorary Pallbearers will be BJ Hare, Coy Landes, Jerry Sparks, Gerald Stevenson, and Billy Procter.

Survived by daughters, Tammy Patterson and husband Raymond, Vicky Turner and husband Mike, grandchildren, Hillary, Mike, Zachary, Kelsey, Haley, Zach, Emily, Brandon and a tribe of great grandkids. Nephew Matthew Hawthorne and wife Mary Emma, Niece- Keli Hawthorne. Sisters-in-law Stella Procter, Dr. Dannah Procter, and Paula Procter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobby Joe is preceded in death by his wife Johnnie Jo,  parents Dink and Florence Anderson, brothers Leroy and Donald, sister Kate Hawthorne and her husband Lee. Brother-in-laws Charles, William, Tommy, Marshall, Don Procter. Sisters-in-law Delores, Opal and Mary.

The Anderson family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Pony Creek Baptist Church.
