On June 10th, 2023, Wanda Lea Little Whitfield, 77, died peacefully in her sleep. She was born to W.T. (Jones) and Bessie Little on February 26, 1946 in Burnet, Tx. Wanda had four sisters; Rosa Lee Holmes, Maggie Van Winkle, Hazel (Scooter) Vest and Kathy Brannon.

Wanda held various jobs over her working career including office manager at Piggly Wiggly in Stephenville, customer service manager at Walmart in Eastland, and ended her career at Eastland ISD. However, her greatest passion was being a homemaker and mother to her two daughters. After retiring, Wanda enjoyed spending time at her Lake Leon home, visiting with neighbors on the porch, admiring amazing sunsets, binge-watching Hallmark movies, and hosting friends and family on holidays…especially on the 4th of July!

Throughout her life she enjoyed time with dance club friends, traveling to new places, camping, playing dominoes with friends & family…and of course, Dallas Cowboys watching parties. Wanda enjoyed decorating for every holiday & dressing up to match the theme. She took great pleasure in cooking large family meals, that always included everyone’s favorites dishes. Once she became a grandmother, she was known as “Bambi” to all.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and two of her sisters. She is survived by her two daughters: Shelly Stone and husband Scott of Georgetown, Kelly Montieth and husband Kyle of Stephenville, sisters Scooter Vest and Kathy Brannon, both of Stephenville, and close long-time friend Reuben Hernandez of Eastland. Wanda had six grandchildren: Justice Baker & wife Becca, Tyler Stone & wife Whitney, Brad Stone & wife Kara, Megan McBride & husband Adam, Jason Stone & wife Taylor, Tesslie Baker & boyfriend Riley Durham. Three step-grandchildren: Caisson Montieth & wife Montana, Carlee Guidry & husband Mason, and Ella Montieth. Wanda also had 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

We, the family, ask that you think of Wanda with a smile as you recall special times spent with her. We take great comfort in the sharing of those memories.

We would also like to thank Texas Oncology in Weatherford, Alpha Omega Hospice, and all the nurses and aides at Lone Star Rehabilitation Center for the love and care you all gave, to keep her comfortable in her final earthly days.

Funeral services for Wanda will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Johnsville Cemetery.  Visitation with the Whitfield family will be Wednesday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home.
