(November 15, 1950 – July 10, 2023)

Steve was a caring Husband, father, son, brother and of course Pepaw.  Steve left us suddenly from an unexpected heart attack at the age of 72.  His heart was just so full of love that it couldn’t be held back anymore.  Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, he left a beacon of light to all that knew him.

He was the oldest born to Amos Barker and Billie Margie Knandell in San Antonio Texas. Steve went to high school in Knox City, where he went on to pursue many passions.  In his spare time, he loved working on old cars and showing them off.  He was more likely to recognize someone based on what car they drove rather than their face.

Eventually settling in Dublin, Texas he met his wife and true love, Prissy, and they were married August 23, 1985.  With Prissy, he found peace and stability in his life. They were best friends even when they would bicker, they always had each other. Just as he would always be there through the good and bad for everyone.

Steve’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were his world.  The legendary Pepaw was always around and could routinely be observed playing dress up or showing off some of his tinkering skills.  Pepaw once let his grandkids dye his beard pink and would go to the “nail salon.” He was gentle and kind, and he cared more about his grandchildren than anything else.

Preceded in death are his mother and father, Amos and Billie, sister Sandy Weems, brother Mike Holden, and most beloved parents-in-law, Charlie and Mary Ann Hale.

Steve is survived by his Stepmom, Kay May.  Wife, Prissy.  Brothers, James Barker, Coy Barker, Bret Holden. Sons and Daughters, Jason and Lisa White, Anna Rodriguez and Jason Glueck, Ammie and Jody Kinsey. Grandchildren, NavaLee, Paige, Chassaty, Olivia, Kirsten, Cole, Mazie, Cassie.  Great Grandchildren, Paizlee, Jayce, Ravyn and his dog, Baylee.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 21st at The First Baptist Church of Dublin located at 220 E Live Oak St., Dublin TX 76446. Church opens at 12:30. Steve’s celebration of life to begin at 1:30pm.

In Lieu of Flowers, we ask that you make a small donation to the Erath County Humane Society in Steve and Baylee’s Name.
