H. Wesley Clearman, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Carlton, Texas, on September 2.

Wes was born in Vincent, Texas, on April 17, 1934, to Troy and Abbie Clearman. He grew up near Big Spring, and worked on the farm with his parents and eight sisters and one brother. He often talked about the pranks he used to pull on his sisters. His sense of humour continued until the end.

He worked for the Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation in Kermit for 33 years, starting from the oil refinery gang and moving up to being a tower engineer. After retiring, he moved from Wink to Carlton and was able to pursue his lifelong dream of owning a farm and raising cattle. Not only did he love his cows but also greatly enjoyed fishing and working with leather. He was also passionate about the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. He was devoted to his faith and read his Bible every day, and served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Wink and at Carlton Baptist Church.

He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Ronnie Sue Baker Clearman, and two children, Robert and Greg (Beverly) Watson. He was married to Sandra Witt Clearman for 25 years, who preceded him in death. They had three children: Cindy (Oscar) Enriquez, Belinda Bazinet, and Jerry (Frances) Clearman. He had six grandchildren: Bradley Lumbert, David Bazinet and Shawnna Enriquez, who all preceded him in death. His living grandchildren are Miriam Clearman (Oliver), Donat Daniel (Noel) Bazinet, and Madison Clearman, and Abbie Alaniz (great granddaughter). Other survivors include one sister, Emma Jean Teague, his brother Troy “Sonny” Clearman, and multiple nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on September 5 at 1pm at Trinity Cemetery in Big Spring, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America in his memory.
