Helen (Garrett) Gant

April 26, 1954 ~ September 17, 2023 (age 69)

Helen Garrett Gant, 69, of Stephenville, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Helen was born on April 26, 1954 in Stephenville to the late James O. and Helen Martin Garrett Carey. She graduated from Stephenville High School in 1972, as Salutatorian of her class. Helen went on to attend Tarleton State University where she received her Bachelor of Business degree, and her degree in Education. She also attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, University of Texas in Austin, and Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth. On May 16, 1975, Helen married the ‘Love of her Life’ Charles Gant, and to this union was born their daughter, Mary.

Helen taught Special Education at Robinson ISD, was a Librarian, a Secretary, and volunteered at Brentwood Christian School in Austin. She was also Co-Owner and Business Partner of Merle Norman Cosmetics with her mother in Stephenville for 52 years. Helen loved to cook, watch Soap Operas, loved her kitties, loved shopping, playing board games and reading novels. Most of all, Helen loved taking care of her family.

Helen was a person of great faith. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved reading the Bible, and listening to acapello church hymns. Helen enjoyed relatively good health the majority of her life, but over the last year she was burdened with developing health issues, that continued to get worse. Now, she is comfortably at home with her Lord Jesus Christ.

Helen is survived by her husband, Charles; and her daughter, Mary.

Besides her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her brother, James.
