STEPHENVILLE — The Texan Rider rode off into the sunset nearly a decade ago but is preparing a return for Family Weekend.
On Saturday, the legendary Texan Rider will lead the Texan Football team onto the field on horseback ahead of their game against Southwest Baptist. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
Since the Texan Rider became the official mascot of Tarleton State University in the 1970s, the Texan Rider often commenced football games by riding onto the field. Saturday will mark the rider’s return to Stephenville for the first time since 2014.
Fans are encouraged to arrive at the game early and get to their seats well before kickoff to witness the return of the longstanding tradition and other pregame activities.
Family Weekend will feature Tarleton State taking on the Southwest Baptist Bearcats on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Reserved tickets are nearly sold out, and all tickets are going fast, plus RV/tailgate is already sold out. For single-game tickets to Saturday’s game, click here.
