54th Annual Cowboy Captial of the World Pro Rodeo was a huge success

New location on 67 provides for current events and allows for future growth

It was a full weekend with the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo in town. There are new champions in each event, as well as three brand new rodeo queens prepared to represent Stephenville all year long.

The total payoff for the 2023 CCPRA was $123,652 split between several deserving athletes!

Event winners:

-Bareback Bronc Rider Champion was Kade Sonnier with a score of 84.5 upon Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s horse “Fox Hole Gunner”.

-Steer Wrestling was won by Cody Devers, with a 3.8-second run.

-Calf Roping went to 4-time World Champion, Caleb Smidt with a 7.8-second run.

-Breakaway Roping goes to Kaydence Crawford with a smoking 2.2-second run.

-Saddle Bronc Riding ended in a tie, between Riggin Smith riding Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s “No. 764” and Sterling Crawley on Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s “Exotic Dancer” they each had the score of 86 points.

-Team Roping also ended in a tie, between the Yeahquo brother duo and Tyler Wade heading for Wesley Thorp. Both teams had a 3.9-second run and split the first place spot.

-Barrel Racing went to Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, who happens to be sitting #1 in the WPRA world standings in Barrel Racing. She smoked a 16.64-second run, beating over 100 Barrel Racers by nearly 3 tenths of a second!

-Steer Roping went to Rocky Patterson, who not only roped 3 steers on Thursday in the slack, but came back and roped a 4th one during a performance and took away over $3,000 this weekend.

-Bull Riding went to Trey Holston, who was one of only two cowboys to cover their bull this weekend. He scored an 88-point ride atop Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s bull, “Time Warp”.

Last but not least, the new CCPRA Rodeo Royalty was crowned. There were 11 girls competing the last couple of weeks for the crowns and now, the results are in for the 2023 Rodeo Queen competition.
