(September 22, 1932 – October 21, 2023)

Born September 22, 1932 to Earl and Julia Machen in Seymour, Texas.

She married Don Lynn Patterson on January 8, 1951 in Lubbock.

Preceded in death by Don, her husband of 59 years, her parents, sister Dorothy Shockley, brother
Charles Machen, granddaughter Leslie Bateman, and grandson John Wigington.

She is survived by daughter Julia Nunn, daughter Donna Redding and husband Charlie,
daughter Kippi Wigington and husband Jim. Grandchildren Cole Nunn, Micki Evans and husband Chris, Whitney Barrentine and husband Kyle, Danielle Ayres and husband David, Steven Wigington
and wife Deb, Phillip Wigington and wife Heather.

She also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren who adored her and many nieces and nephews.
Betty Patterson started her career in education in 1959. She received numerous awards and
recognitions throughout her 60 plus years tenure as an educator. She left an impact on countless
teachers, staff, students and community members. Betty was also an active community member
working tirelessly with United Care, scholarship committees, as well as a devoted member of the
Hico Church of Christ.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Lenny Redding for being always ready to lend a
helping hand to Betty, Julia, and family for the last few years.

Anybody who ever met Betty Patterson walked away thinking ‘BeBe is wonderful’. She has left a
legacy for which we will be forever thankful.

A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held at the Hico Church of Christ on October 28 th at 2 PM. The family
would like to invite everyone to join them at the Hico Elementary Cafeteria immediately following the
service for refreshments.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Hico Church of Christ, Hico Scholarship
Fund, or Hico Senior Activity Center.
