Tarleton Saddle Bronc Riders Pace Men’s Team Victory at Texas Tech

STEPHENVILLE — Saddle bronc riders swept three of the top four spots, leading Tarleton State University’s men’s rodeo team to first place at the weekend Texas Tech National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southwest Region stop in Lubbock.

Lance Gaillard posted a two-ride 154.5, which included a finals-best 81.5, to take first at the fall season’s final rodeo. Teammate Ira Dickenson was a scant half-point behind in the average. His 154 tally came on rides of 79 and 75. Baily Small’s fourth-place 148.5 comprised rides of 76 and 72.5.

Bull rider Riggen Hughes turned in an 82.5 in the long go and added a 76 in the finals for a third-place 158.5. Bareback rider Roedy Farrell’s 153.5 came on rides of 71 and 82.5, and steer wrestler Clay Guthrie took third overall with his 4.0-6.8–10.8. 

Tarleton State’s women took second in Lubbock, paced by a quartet of goat tyers led by Tori Brower’s 13.8 on twin 6.9s. Emily McDeavitt was second with her 6.9-7.2–14.1, Rayme James finished tied for fourth with a 14.3 on runs of 7.2 and 7.1, and Shyanne Bauerle posted a pair of 7.3s for a two-head 14.6 and a sixth-place tie.

Breakaway roper Kalleyn Snedecor contributed a third-place 5.4 on runs of 2.4 and 3.0.

Texas Tech marks the end of the fall campaign for the NIRA Southwest Region. Both Tarleton teams will resume action in February.
